Any diet to be successful calls upon you, the dieter, to arrest control of what goes into your body. In fact one of the best things about dieting besides losing weight and feeling great is the feeling that you are the boss of food, not the other way around. And since a diet shake is one of the best ways to get good nutrition into your system in a pleasing way, the more control you have over that process the better.
You can buy diet shakes in cans or have them made for you and there certainly is a thriving industry of people making lots of money off of those who don't want to make their diet shakes themselves. But there are two reasons why that is not preferable. First, making your shakes from fresh ingredients guarantees that you get nothing but the best in terms of vitamins and nutrition. And secondly, pre-made shakes, even though they say "diet" on the can often have too much sugar and other unhealthy ingredients in them to do you any good.
Of course the heart of making a great shake of any kind is owning a great blender. But with that one piece of equipment on hand, its really just a matter of combining the right base with the right ingredient to make shakes that will be healthy and help you reach your diet goals and taste good too. There are three types of bases of any good diet shake and they are dairy, vegetable or fruit based shakes.
A dairy based diet shake is just that. It is built on a solid diet dairy product. Of course, if you are lactose intolerant, this base is out. But don't substitute soy or some other dairy replacement for a good 2% level of milk to use as a base for your shake. And since milk is such a hospitable substance, you have a lot of variety with the ingredients you add to the shake to keep them tasty and interesting.
A vegetable based shake is a good way to use a shake as a substitute for dinner. You can use the V8 brand model and start with a tomato base and then slowly add other vegetables to make a delicious and very healthy drink that can also be a filling meal. But be careful that the base vegetable is one that is not too hard on your digestion because in concentrated forms, some juiced vegetables can get a bit harsh.
Fruit based diet shakes are a cool way to get that sweet tooth satisfied and never fall off of your diet. For best diet results, start with raw fruit and liquefy it in the blender so you don't lose any of the nutrition. A fruit diet smoothie is a wonderful way to start the day or a nice evening snack that is healthy as well as very tasty.
These three starter food groups give you plenty to work from to make lots of variations on the diet shake formula. Here is where your imagination can go wild because it can help you be creative and make lots of new kinds of shakes and the more variety you can add, the more you will want to stay on your program for losing weight. Peanut butter, for example, is a great taste treat to add into certain diet shake blends that is also a terrific source of protein for your nutritional needs. And because diet shakes are so full of flavor, if you add in any vitamin supplements you need to be taking, they will go down smoothly mixed in with all that good flavor.
Once you get started making your own diet shakes, it can add a lot of fun to the sometimes tedious process of dieting. And because you are working with as many fresh and raw ingredients as possible, you are getting tremendous health and vitamin value from every shake you make. That means the shakes not only will enable your metabolism to quickly burn away the fat you want to get rid of, it will empower your immune system so you will say healthier and happier as you get trimmer and sexier from making and enjoying your wide variety of delicious diet shakes.

The Supposed Hoodia Oprah Connection Exposed
If you've shopped around for hoodia online you've likely read about the supposed hoodia Oprah connection. You've probably seen claims that Oprah Winfrey endorses hoodia or that she uses it herself to reach her weight loss goals. You may have even seen such bold claims that Oprah endorses a specific hoodia product. You'll be surprised to learn that there may not be any truth behind the hoodia Oprah connection.
I've seen some claims that hoodia was "seen on Oprah" or that "Oprah uses hoodia," but I haven't seen any evidence to support these claims. I've never heard of hoodia being featured on her television show nor have I read anything that supports the claims that she has used it. In fact, if you go to her website and search for the term, "hoodia" or "hoodia Oprah" you don't get any search results. Until I can find concrete evidence that she talked about it on her television show or that she uses it, I don't believe there is any Oprah hoodia connection as far as her television show is concerned.
There is a minor hoodia connection, however, in Oprah's magazine, O, that many websites reference as proof that...

THE GREAT ABS MISTAKE
"He Was Doing One Thousand Crunches And Sit Ups A Day... But Still NO Abs!!!
Burn The Fat
After 18 years in the fitness business, “How do I get great abs” is still BY FAR the most frequently asked question I receive out of the 30,000+ emails that come into my office every month. No doubt, it's because abs are the one body part that most people are the most frustrated with. Although their questions are often phrased differently and each person’s situation seems unique, my answer to “how do I get great abs” is almost always the same… and you’re about to hear it...
"1,000 Sit-Ups And Crunches A Day and Still No Abs!"
One question I received recently REALLY got my attention because a young guy told me he was doing 1,000 crunches and sit ups a day and said he still couldn’t see his abdominals. He wrote:
“Tom: I have been working out for around a year now and I cannot get my lower abs into any type of shape. I'm starting to see my upper abs a little bit, which is great, but despite doing 900 various crunches, ab roller, and 100...
